You may remember a while back that I created a Lemon/Lime sugar body wash (see it HERE) and I absolutely loved it! So much so that I was ready to make some more and this time share it with my friends for Christmas time. So I decided to go with a peppermint coconut body scrub!
Refined Coconut Oil (it will have NO coconut smell to it)
Peppermint Essential Oil
Soap/body wash dye (optional)
Jar or container for your scrub
- First step, mix together 1 cup of Coconut Oil with 1 and 1/4 cup of sugar. Mix thoroughly until it resembles a doughy consistency. If you prefer your scrub to be a bit runnier, feel free to add more coconut oil to the mix.
- Next mix a couple drops of the peppermint oil into your scrub. This part is completely up to you. You can add as much as you want. Depends on how strong you want the wash to be. I made a very big batch so I used a lot of oil.
- Next I split the mix into 3 separate bowls. One I kept white, one I added a hint of red dye (for the pink color above) and one I added a tiny bit of green (see below). I used the different colors as layers in my jars as pink and white or green and white. Dye is optional and makes no difference in the quality of your scrub. I usually try to stay away from dye or stick with a natural substance to dye, but since this is not ingested and is made for soap, I thought it would give the scrub an extra festive-ness! The brand I used can be seen below.
I used canning jars to hold my scrubs and they came with these sweet labels. Too bad my handwriting is so terrible. I added a bow to distract from it! :P
Are you making any Christmas presents this year? I am looking for some suggestions. I've been in a crafty mood lately! See you all tomorrow :)
